A Kuriachan District Governor (2001- 2002) of Rotary International District 3201, Coimbatore, IndiaK.A Kuriachan is the Managing Partner of Kings Furniture Products & Kings Living Styles, Sungam Bye Pass Road, Coimbatore- 45.Previously Mr.Kuriachan was the Senior Purchase Executive of M/S.South India Viscose Ltd, Coimbatore.
Born as a Taurean on 27th April 1965 to Mr. Antony Kattookaran and Mrs. Jolly Antony, did his schooling in Mary Rani Convent School and Carmel Garden Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore. He is a graduate in Civil Engineering (B.E.) from Bangalore University M.V.J.College of Engineering and a post graduate in Management (M.B.A.) from P S G College of Technology, Coimbatore, specialised in Corporate Finance and Foreign Trade. With the quest for education, he continued to obtain several post graduate diplomas in different Management subjects.
He is a visiting honorary faculty in Engineering and Management institutions. One of the youngest mentors for several multinational company executives, with special hat Ricks on Man management and effective materials management. A Multi faceted personality, always believed in actions. He started the Kovai Clean City Movement, and was the Executive Chairman of the Desabhakta Movement, striving for anti corruption and an active member of Management bodies.
Right from School days, an active social worker, Debater, Philatelist, Rtn. K. A. Kuriachan was honoured by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. M.G. Ramachandran with the Tamil Nadu State Award for the Best Philatelist and went on to win the National Award at Inpex, Bangalore.
A Rotarian since 1990, Mr. Kuriachan is a member of the Rotary club of Coimbatore Texcity and has served the club in several capacities. In the District, he has served as District RYLA Chairman, District Clean City Project Director, District Rotaract Committee Chairman and District Director for Community Service. He has chaired Several Multi District and National Seminars. A keen motivator of the youth, Rtn. Kuriachan’s brainchild was the Yuva India 2000, where 7200 youth delegates participated in October 1996. Teacher’s India 2000 in 1998 and Citizens India 2000 in 1999 were his other major projects. Worked very closely with Mr.T.N.Seshan, Former CEC of India, as the Executive Chairman of the Desabhakta Society of India, striving for anti corruption.
As one of the worlds youngest Rotary Governor (got elected at the age of 34), he had implemented mega humanitarian projects helping Mankind in several ways. To quote a few. Organizing and sending a team of Doctors to the more Polio affected areas of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, and later sending a team of doctors to Uganda to help the suffering people.
Taking into consideration of the number of deaths increasing due to Road Accidents, Rtn. Kuriachan visualized, designed being a civil engineer and implemented the 340 Kms. Long Rotary Road Accident Helpline centers from Bhavani in Erode District of Tamilnadu to Vytilla in Ernakulam District of Kerala. This is the longest continuous service project in the world implemented by an N.G.O. This project has already rescued more than 5,800 accident victims and saved the lives of over 1800 people during the golden hour of accident. The Tamilnadu Chief Minister has appreciated this project and the Government is planning to implement this project throughout Tamilnadu, which was also a dream of our former Prime Minister Shri.A.B.Vajpayee. Rtn.Kuriachan was invited by our Government of India to Delhi, to advise about the implementation of the Road accident Helpline Project in the Prestigious Golden Quadrilateral project connecting Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai and Mumbai.
Also invited to Jamshedpur, Jharkhand state, to advice and launch the accident helpline project. This Road Accident Project is becoming the role model project to the entire country.
Rtn.Kuriachan through Rotary District 3200 initiated and donated fitness equipments worth Rs.12 Lakh to Ms. P.T.Usha’s International Sports School, where she has already produced National Gold medals by her athletes, anxiously waiting for an Olympic medal from this Sports School.
Appreciating the great efforts of Rtn.K.A.Kuriachan, our Immediate former President of India, His Excellency Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam rendered an invitation to meet him personally and appraise about the functioning of the project. Our former President of India was very happy and complimented Rtn.Kuriachan and Rotary for steering forward an excellent Humanitarian project and requested him to spread this project all over the Country to help Mankind.
Shri.K.A.Kuriachan is also a Honorary faculty for the Indian Airforce Pilots & Officer’s at the Airforce Administrative College and also a Honorary Trainer for the CRPF Officer’s, CTC 2, Coimbatore. His special module on “Discover Yourself” is a proven effective self analysis exercise, being in demand locally & internationally.
Rtn.PDG K. A. Kuriachan is a Major Donor, received the ‘Significant Achievement Award’ in 1997, and has been honoured with several National & International Awards like ‘Guiding Light of Youth’ and ‘The Crown of Service’ Award. He was the District Trainer of Rotary District 3200,during the year 2006-07 and was the RI Presesident Rtn.Wilfrid Wilkinson’s representative at the 2007-08 District 3060 Conference at Ahmedabad. He has travelled widely all over the world, motivating people to remove the two letters “im”, from the word “impossible” from their life dictionary. Married to Daisy ( A Paul Harris Fellow too ), and is blessed with two daughters, Maria and Alice.
